Casabermeja Ceramic Museum and Workshop

What would you say if I tell you there is a Casabermeja Ceramic Museum and Workshop? Founded in 1989 by a group of ceramic enthusiasts, the museum is one of a kind in the province of Malaga. Last week, after years of hearing about it, my friend Miguel “El Loco” introduced me to the artists and instructors behind this creative and special place. Situated in the heart of the village in a antique restored house, the museum displays beautiful pottery form various countries and from Malaga province. Personally, I always wanted to learn pottery and tile painting and this place seems a great opportunity for me.

But let me tell you something about the studio and its people. Set in top of a hill in the back of the museum, the studio is a constant artwork in progress where tile painting, mosaic laying and pottery enthusiasts come to create beautiful objects. Surrounded by agreable and friendly people and in a relaxing atmosphere I created my fist painted tile. In the months to come I’ll try my hands on pottery making.

Sergio Ferrero, is the founder of the Casabermeja Ceramic Museum and Workshop.  A very talented and reputable mosaic layer his works are regarded as truly pieces of art. Here is a short movie about his amazing work and not at least this amazing man.

My friend Miguel “El Loco” drawing a tile sign for his house. Do you remember him? He’s the proud owner of “Ventorillo Patas Cortas“.  A fanatic animal lover, he owns no more than 20 dogs, a donkey named “Pavarotti” and few (quite few) cats. There is something to be said about a person who rescues and feeds all the homeless animals he encounters on his ways around the village, right?

My first EVER tile painting project. I still have a long way to go but, I really enjoyed and loved it. I already started on my second design, so stay tuned for more bragging. Therefore, dear friends and family, guess what are you going to get for Christmas and birthdays? Chocolate! Right!
